Students
Our members come from all cultural backgrounds and academic disciplines. They are the backbone of our organization, and we are committed to providing an enriching, educational, and social experience to everyone who joins the ECG family.
Student Applications
We recruit at the beginning of each semester, and only HKU students are eligible to apply. While no prior experience is necessary to join ECG, we look for candidates with exceptional problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, the ability to structure and articulate their thoughts, and demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn.
Our application follows a 2-step process: an online application form, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to a group case interview.
To keep up with our events and recruitment timelines, feel free to follow our Instagram account and LinkedIn.
We look forward to welcoming you to the ECG family!

Managing Director’s Letter
I joined ECG as a freshman, and I was completely new to the consulting world. I always had my mind set on working in the finance industry, but my friend convinced me to join. At the time, I had no real business experience, so when I found out I got in, I made sure to make the most of it. I always knew I liked the creative aspects of business, but ECG allowed me to tap into my creative thinking skills further to help real businesses thrive and opened my mind to the consulting world.
ECG has trained me to think critically and deliver effective presentations with excellent storytelling, well-structured decks, and to answer clarifying questions asked by our clients. I was able to transfer these skills to succeed in international business case competitions and during job interviews.
I am grateful to have joined ECG, as it has also contributed to my personal development during college. I’ve made some of my closest friendships here at ECG and cherish all the ECG socials, late-night dinners, workshops, and last-minute cram sessions on Zoom. Everyone in ECG is caring, kind, and always looks out for each other, and I highly encourage everyone at HKU to apply for ECG.
Feel free to reach out to me at md@ecg.hk or contact us via Instagram @ecg_hk if you have any questions. Good luck, and we hope to welcome you to the ECG family soon!

Joining ECG gave me the opportunity to be directly mentored by professional consultants, who guided me on building effective presentations and understanding the workflow in the consulting industry. I also enjoyed our weekly late-night dinners after the sessions, where I could mingle with my teammates and connect with like-minded friends.

ECG is far more than a consulting group—it’s a collaborative community for future business leaders to exchange ideas and learn from each other. Over five months, we learned to translate theory into practice by solving real SME challenges alongside driven peers. Connecting with industry professionals also helped me gain career insights and equipped me with the essential skills needed before offering solutions to our clients.
